At Sonneveld, we aim to actively contribute to a more sustainable world. Since sustainability is a broad and multifaceted concept, we have structured our policy into three pillars.
One key pillar is our commitment to the environment, where we focus on reducing our CO2 emissions. In this regard, we have made significant progress recently. One of these successes is the launch of the carbon footprint tool. This tool was introduced a year ago, making it one of the first in the bakery industry. Over the past year, we’ve gained valuable experience with the tool and have already been able to assist many of our customers. From now on, we will include this information in the customer specifications.
With this tool, we provide insight into how much CO2 is emitted during the production of a Sonneveld product. Various factors are considered, such as raw materials, packaging materials, energy consumption during production, waste of raw materials, packaging waste, and the transport of both raw materials and finished products to the warehouse.
By making this data transparent, we can take concrete actions to reduce this footprint for both ourselves and our customers. Moreover, this allows us to stay ahead of upcoming laws and regulations, as well as the obligation to report on sustainability in annual reports
